Who Should Consider the Program? • Entry-levelprofessionals in higher education • Recent college graduatesinterested in working in a higher education setting • Career changerswho have related experience or interest in working in higher education
Nature of the ProgramCourses will be offered to accommodate working people • 30 Total Units of Coursework • Cohort-based program • 400 hours of fieldwork over two semesters • Year-round program including summer session
Course of Study • Semester One: • EDAD 521: History and Philosophy of Higher Education • EDAD 503: Organizational Leadership • Semester Two: • EDAD 510: Research Design • EDAD 522: College Students’ Characteristics and Cultures

Fieldwork – 400 Hours Over Two Semesters You can use your current job for one semester including something new in your work load • Working professionals can complete fieldwork hours in a number of ways including: • Reduction in work day • Weekday evening hours • Weekend hours Fieldwork sites will be identified Or You may also find your own and it must be approved by the instructor/program coordinator
Culminating Activities Comprehensive Exam • Written examination taken at the end of the program • Includes a case scenario and open-ended questions that allow you to display your skills at writing, critical thinking, analysis, and application of theory to practice • Students have two opportunities to pass the exam • The professional seminar class, in particular, along with all other courses will aid students in preparation for the exam

Center for Research on Educational Access and Leadership (C-REAL) • Research on local education problems in K-12 and community colleges that is systemic and solution-focused • Research includes program intervention effectiveness, assessment, and evaluation • Involves a partnership between local educational agencies, schools, and colleges along with CSUF doctoral faculty and graduate students • Outcomes include dissemination of findings through publications and presentations

Earned a baccalaureate degree from accredited institutions of higher education with a GPA in upper division of 3.0 or above • Demonstrated educational leadership potential and skills including successful experience in school, college, or the community • Demonstrated academic excellence, problem-solving ability, and an interest in higher education leadership, students, administration or advocacy • Three confidential recommendation forms attesting to the professional potential and ability of the candidate • Written statement of purpose • Professional resume • On-campus interview with the Admissions Committee Admission Requirements:
Elements of the Application • - Application fee: $55 • - Graduate application at www.csumentor.edu • - Supplemental application includes: • Statement of purposes • Response to questions • Professional resume - Three recommendation forms - Employer Support Agreement - Transcripts from all universities and community colleges attended
