  1. This I Believe Essay • You are to type/write a 500 – 700 (5 Para.) word essay explaining your beliefs. It is to be submitted as a Word document viadropbox or email. • This essay does not need to be comprehensive; you do not need to share all your political beliefs. I would hope that you would share your most passionate convictions. • You do not need to identify with an established party if you do not feel a strong connection to one. But if you do, please indicate it. • I would also like to know what have been the most important influences in developing your personal ideology. • I do not want to put to many instructions / restrictions on this assignment - just be organized. • Be real.

  2. Preliminary Party Platform • You must identify 10 personal beliefs and your party's plank on that issue. Use the political and ideology surveys you have taken to guide you. This should be a handwritten list in your notebook for you are going to use this information in small groups during class. • Unaffiliated students will research the Democrats and Republicans to see which party you will support on that issue. • Use the links below to read more about the party you are most aligned: • Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Democratic Socialists

  3. First, identify your caucus. Then, create a list of 15 topics, or planks, that are important to your members. Your plank list should reflect the degree of consensus or division within your party. The first planks should be the ones with the most consensus. Please put the name of every member of your party's caucus on your page.

  4. New Component: Complete your party platform in your own words. Identify five issues in your party platform that are in the official planks of your national party. Copy and paste the plank from the national party onto your page under your plank. Use a different font color.
