Take out your listening script, which you selected last week. Give it to your partner and comment on the script your partner gave you. We want to help our partner write the best lesson possible so Be Honest
Is the language too easy/difficult?
Is the script the right length?
Will young learners want to listen?
3. Recall: What was the purpose of the “head to toe” lesson?
What can we say generally about the purposes of receptive (listening) lessons?
4. Creating objectives for receptive lessons (listening.) *Remember that the purpose of a listening lesson is for the students to understand the listening text. Consider what task the students need to do successfully to demonstrate their understanding by the end of the lesson; this task should be based on what the students have learned from all the activities they participated in during the lesson.
It might be helpful to use the following “formula”:
By the end of the lesson, SWBAT demonstrate (TL – functions & notions – knowledge, & skills)
by (doing something = the assessment
5. Teaching Vocabulary Consider last week’s lesson, “The Park.” How did I teach new vocabulary? What are some other techniques we could use?
