ANZUNS Prostate Cancer Communication Forum Background: In 2016 a group of urology nurses discussed the need for platform where nurses working in the prostate cancer field could share information and knowledge with each other. Funding was kindly provided by Astellas Australia to help set-up an online knowledge sharing platform. A Steering Committee was established to oversee the running of the Forum. This Committee has representation from ANZUNS executive, ANZUNS membership, NZ representative, and PCFA representative. This Committee meets quarterly. The ANZUNS Prostate Cancer Communication Forum was launched in September 2017 on the Sosido network.

  3. What is Sosido? Sosido is an online knowledge sharing network. ANZUNS CaP Forum launched on Sosido Sep 2017.

Step 1: Read your email digest All ANZUNS CaP Forum members receive an email digest every Thursday, with a summary of: News and notices from ANZUNS New questions and answers from ANZUNS members New publications from ANZUNS members Abstracts from journals/sources chosen by ANZUNS Customize your digest: change your sources, follow other groups     

  5. Step 2: See something interesting in your digest? Click on it!   Abstracts and articles  are available without logging in. Profiles and Q&A  require a password.

  7. Metrics from the ANZUNS Prostate Cancer Communication Forum • An initial list of 544 ANZUNS members were sent out account login details and asked to join the forum. Since launching the forum the ANZUNS membership base has grown to +640 members.

  8. News and Updates • A WordPress blog was set-up which controls the 'News and Updates' section of the forum. The News and Updates section informs members of relevant up to date information in the prostate cancer field. The WordPress account is run by the project manager which enables us to control the content that is sent out to our members. • The blog has been used to promote the following: • Online urology nursing course • USANZ abstract deadline • Victorian UNSANZ state meeting • MATE seminar in Melbourne for Men on ADT • Prostate Cancer Research & APCC 2017 Review; A/Prof Nathan Lawrentschuk • 2018 Prostate Nursing Care Scholarship Applications • USANZ Annual Scientific Meeting Registration Reminder Members and relevant prostate cancer groups (e.g. PCFA) are encouraged to email any information that could be of importance to our members through to the forum’s project manager.

Upcoming additions to the forum • Member of the month highlighting their role and experience • Ask-me-anything sessions with an expert ANZUNS member, experienced prostate cancer nurses will share their clinical knowledge and tips-and-tricks • Interviews with nurses who have interesting/innovative programs in their centres • Online Q&A with experts in the prostate cancer field including; urologists, oncologists, psychologists, exercise physiologists, GP’s and physiotherapists • Connect with the PCFA research blog • Plan to expand our community internationally; • Link with BAUN, EUAN and SUNA
