ADCIRC Surge Guidance System (ASGS) / Coastal Emergency Risks Assessment (CERA) NSF Grant 1010640 Hindcast Modeling - Hurricane ISAAC 21-30 August 2012 • development and validation tool for coastal modelers • compare model runs with different input parameters (e.g. wind schemes) • compare the surge and wave results from the above parameters with measured data • improve the reliability and stability of the used model code • analyze the tradeoff of real-time performance vs. quality using different combinations of SWAN parameters • Comparison of ISAAC hindcasts with 5 distinct sets of meteorological data : (1) ADCIRC Asymmetric Vortex; (2) LSU Wind Model; (3) OWI Fast Delivery; (4) NOAA HWind; and (5) MSU Fitz Wind Scheme. • Compare results with measured data from USGS Rapid Deployment gages Maximum wind speed This model was used in the original real time response with the ASGS during Hurricane Isaac.
