Energy liberated in the form of heat are removed continuously by a coolant. • Cadmium rods are used as controlled rods to absorb neutrons. • The reactor is surrounded by thick layer of lead to protect harmful effects of nuclear radiation.
The core is connected to exchanger and moved by water converting steam. • The steam drive a large turbine and then to a generator for electric power generation.
