Why Are They Endangered? • Boat traffic causes many injuries and many deaths • Pollution clogs their lungs • Fishing nets catch them and cause death • There is a lack of food
Our Opinion The Baiji Dolphin plays an important role in nature. We must save these amazing creatures of the sea.
Baiji Description • Weight: Born- 6-11 lb. Adult- 220-355 lb. • Length: Born- 32-35 in. • Adult- 6-8 ft. • Upper body and sides are pale bluish gray. • Under belly is white. The blowhole The fins The tail
Information • They live in a Japanese river. • Other names people refer to the Baijis are: Chinese River Dolphin, Baiji, or Yangtze River Dolphin. • They may not last another decade, so PLEASEhelp them!
Interesting Facts • The Baiji’s fin is not as pointed as most dolphin’s fins. • Their nose/snout is very long (longer than most dolphins!) • There are fewer than 100 left! • They can not be in captivity!
