TAU monitoring activities summary • TAU entered in various places. • Manpower – Yan Benhammou++ • (N. Guttman, N. Hod, E. Reinherz, A. Kreizel). • Working on online Monitoring of TGC. • Looking at Muon LVL2 Monitroing + TrigDiMuon • with N. Panikashvili (Michigan) • Looking into EF monitoring + introduction of MuGirl • with S. Tarem (Technion)
Today’s Monitoringoutlook talks: • TGC Level-1 Trigger (Noam) • TrigDiMuon (Level-2) (Nir) • Event Filter (MuGirl) (Erez)

TGC Level-1 Trigger On-Line Monitoring M5.5, Nov-Dec 07: No stable data stream & Problems with network… M5, Oct-Nov 07: Stable data stream !!! But… Allocation problems, partially working Nov 07: Fixed memory allocation problem, file_sampler works !!! M4, Aug-Sep 07: No stable data stream M4.5, Sep-Oct 07: No stable data stream, problems with switch Jul 07: Beginning of work Aug 07: Install TomBox In the pit Time line 6 months total

TGC Level-1 Trigger On-Line Monitoring Interaction point 1 2 3 Wheel 3 2 1 μ r μ φ Layer (strip/wire) TGC “Structure” for monitoring needs TGC side C sector: 1/12 of a wheel Barrel side A Basic divisions: • SIDE/SECTOR/(CHAMBER/PHI/LAYER/)… • SIDE/WHEEL/SECTOR/(CHAMBER/PHI/LAYER/)…
TGC Level-1 Trigger On-Line Monitoring Histograms Currently available: • Multiplicities by Items. • Total Hits per physical Item. • Cluster Size per GLOBAL Item (2D). (up to level ../chamber/phi/layer) (like “hits per SLB”) Examples (OHP Panel): • TGC event multiplicity • Strip/Wire Hit Multiplicity in side_C/M_3/sector_9 • Wire Hits per global SLB (~120) in side_C/sector_9 • Strip Clusters in side_C/sector_9
All “flat” histograms can be obtained by running an existing .root file saved by OHP after each run (see next…)
TGC Level-1 Trigger On-Line Monitoring Current issues • Histograms: • Need to decide about EXPERT mode histograms • New Website(s): • L-1 On Line Monitoring page: http://atlas2.tau.ac.il/noam/AtlasTGCLevel1Monitoring.html • Mile Stones page: http://atlas2.tau.ac.il/noam/AtlasMilestones.html

TrigDiMuon Monitoring TrigDiMuon Algorithm Authors: Shlomit Tarem Natasha Panikashvili
TrigDiMuon Monitoring …TrigDiMuon Algorithm • Input : ID track (muFast) • ROI for a second muon : • opposite charge • Invariant mass: • Second muon under the threshold • Extrapolation of the track to the muon spectrometers
TrigDiMuon Monitoring Monitoring • Final state objects: , vertex fit … • Algorithm: Misalignments between different parts of the detector, dead zones …

Event Filter (MuGirl)Monitoring Erez Reinherz-Aronis Arik Kreisel
Event Filter Monitoring Event Filter Status • In the Event Filter (EF): • Moore is available (not good in low PT) • MuonBoy is not available • MuGirl is not available • Target is to implement MuGirl in the EF level: • In collaboration with Shlomit, John and Julie
Event Filter Monitoring Status of current work • Understand MuGirl • Working on understanding the EF environment • that is significantly different from the • offline environment (looking at Moore) • First test should be done in the technical • run at the end of February
