CarbonSat L1L2 Study Final Presentation, 3-Jul-2013 Universität Bremen, FB1 Physik und Elektrotechnik Institut für Umweltphysik (IUP) Institut für Fernerkundung (IFE) • Level 2 XCO2 and XCH4 Performance w.r.t. Clouds & Aerosols: • Overview and initial error budget • ESA Study CarbonSat Earth Explorer 8 Candidate Mission • “Level-2 and Level-1B Requirements Consolidation Study“ • ESA Contract No4000105676/12/NL/AF M. Overview • Scattering related biases due to aerosols and undetected clouds including thin (sub-visual) cirrus clouds are expected to dominate the error budget (see below) esp. w.r.t. XCO2 systematic errors (biases) • Within this study this aspect has been studied in detail using different approaches • Details will be presented in the following presentations • Here we present • a short overview about the different retrieval methods used to study this important aspect and present • a first preliminary CarbonSat XCO2 and XCH4 error budget 2
