Siesta Key - Sarasota, Florida artist Lloyd Dobson’s paintings shine a spotlight on the beauty of God’s palette that he sees. Lloyd always is pushing himself to hone and evolve his artistic skills to create art that is fresh, original and a genuine expression of his personal view and connection with his beautiful tropical paradise surroundings.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Independence, Missouri. Lloyd studied art in high school and college where he was blessed to win numerous art awards and ribbons. In Missouri, he studied under the late artist Andrew Thoman.
In college was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers and went to the west coast to their rookie training camp. In Lloyd's second year of playing minor league baseball he injured his ankle and being on crutches resumed his passion for painting. In Southern California he studied under California artist Bert Carter. Lloyd entered many art shows where he continued to win ribbons for his work, as well as selling oil paintings to hundreds of clients throughout the United States, Canada, the UK, Germany, and Switzerland.
In 2007 I moved to Treasure Island, Florida where Florida’s west coast now seem to influence Lloyd's paintings. In 2013 he moved to the Siesta Key – Sarasota area and close to his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
