A small black beetle called the Coffee Berry Borer (CBB) is spreading in Kona and Ka’u and can ruin coffee crops! The beetle is a weak flier but can blow in wind and can be moved by people in the coffee cherries. All cherries picked should be assumed to have beetles, so do not transport picked cherries to another coffee farm or coffee growing area. You can help the growers stay in business by not moving the tiny beetles or cherries with beetles inside.
