Cultural Imperialism • Cultural Imperialism is the active promotion of one culture at the expense of another • Most severe during the Colonial era (Imperialism). • Now – driven by economy and a search for new consumers (Globalization).
Cultural Nationalism • Cultural nationalism is the process of protecting and defending a cultural system against diluting or offensive cultural expressions. • Banning of Franglais. • Islamic Fundamentalism is in part a reaction against Western culture.
