REGULATIONS AND ACTS LAW ON MINISTRIES (article 33) (“Official Journal of RS”, no. 65/2008 and36/2009 Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia performs expert tasks referring to: creating programs, organizing and conducting of statistical surveys, that is methodology defining, collecting, processing, statistical analysis and statistical data publishing; preparing and creating of unique statistical standards; development, maintenance and using of public administrative and statistical registers; creating and maintenance of the system of national accounts; cooperation and expert coordination with organizations that are authorized for statistical surveys conducting; cooperation with international organizations aiming at standardization and providing of data comparability; data processing, referring to elections and referendum results obtaining, at the republican level, as well as other tasks defined by the Law. OFFICIAL STATISTICSLAW (article 2) (“Official Journal of RS”, no. 104/2009 Official statistics shall provide, on impartial basis, the figures and representative data and information on mass economic, demographic and social facts, and on the phenomena of working and living environment, for all respective users: economic subjects and their associations, government bodies, authorities of autonomous provinces and local self-government units, cultural, educational and scientific institutions, and public at large. Official statistics are envisaged to fulfill the international obligations of the Republic of Serbia regarding the production, dissemination, analysis and publishing of the official statistical data. MOST FREQUENTLY REQUESTED INFORMATION, 2009 • Number of requests – total 34673(53%via telephone) Most frequent statistical areas are: employment and earnings demography national accounts • E-mail – 6127(15% from abroad) • Library (visits) – 2103 (91% overtaking of the data) • Selling of publications and CDs (copies) – about 500 publications and about 450 CDs. ACCESS TO STATISTICAL DATA published statistical data The Office is not obliged to perform the particular users’ requests when they refer to the already published data; in such cases, users are instructed to use the publications containing the requested data or they are provided with information where the needed data can be obtained. • Unpublished statistical data • The Office provides users with unpublished statistical data only when Deputy Director or Assistant Director agree with it. • Unpublished statistical data, requested by foreign countries or international organizations, are provided in written form, by Assistant Director or Head of International Statistical Cooperation Unit (hereinafter: authorized persons), only when Director General agrees with it. • Unpublished statistical data, requested by legal entities or physical persons, are provided by Assistant Director or Head of Information, Dissemination and Marketing Unit (authorized persons). www.stat.gov.rs stat@stat.gov.rs

HOW TO SUBMIT A REQUEST AND HOW IT IS PROCESSED The request should contain: -  the type of requested data; -  the period to which data refer; -  the way data are to be submitted and the purpose of use (with the indication whether they are intended for business operations, publication or selling) Non-published data can be provided several times based on one request if given regularly, in short time intervals and if received by a same person commissioned by the user. The request, for which additional processing or special engagement of staff is needed, is due to be submitted by authorized persons to the organizational unit data refer to as well as to that empowered to deal with accounting operations in order to fix the price of the service. As for users that have indicated that data will be published, the price and conditions shall be established by special contract. www.stat.gov.rs stat@stat.gov.rs

INFORMATION ON HOW AND WHERE INFORMATION MEDIA ARE KEPT • Archives • Library • Database Two copies of all data, defined by the processing project, are kept on magnetic and paper media as long as foreseen by the project, i.e. the list of keeping archives and register materials. Additional copies of data of specific and key statistical surveys (censuses, economic foreign relations, national accounts, complex annual report, industry, register of territorial units and register of organizational units, demography, employment, main classifications) are kept in a special refractory chest inside and outside the Office as well as in premises particularly intended for this purpose. www.stat.gov.rs stat@stat.gov.rs
