  1. Alternative Pathway to Graduation Class of 2020

  2. 20 specific credits • 18 points on the End of Course State Tests What do you need to graduate?

  3. Do I meet the End of Course state testing requirements? • Have I taken all 7 tests? • Did I meet the minimum total in all 3 sub groups? • Do I have 18 total points?

  4. As of March, most juniors still need to take the Government EOC… So how do I know if I’m on track with my EOCs or not? ON TRACK: If you have met your 4pt minimum in the English and the math subgroup AND currently have 15 total points NOT ON TRACK: If you have NOT met your 4pt minimum in the English and the math subgroup AND currently have less than 15 total points

Do you meet the: Industry-Recognized Credential & workforce readiness test Great Oaks students can qualify for this pathway (in lieu of the 18pt EOC) You do this by earning an industry-recognized credential or a group of credentials totally 12 points and earn the required score on the WorkKeys test. Your counselor at the Oaks Campus will be working with you to determine if you meet these qualifications to meet this pathway.

  6. Do you meet the… College and readiness tests If you earn a remediation free score in math and English (3 subscore areas) on the ACT or SAT, you will meet the testing requirements for graduation under this pathway.

Do you meet… The alternative pathway to graduation for the class of 2020 Option 1You must meet at least two of the below requirements: • Earn a 2.5 GPA on on a 4.0 scale in all courses completed during 11th and 12th grades • Complete a capstone project during 12th grade that meets criteria defined by the Ohio Dept of Edu guidance and evaluation process • During 12th grade, complete a work or community service experience, as defined by the Ohio Dept of Edu and Governor’s Office for Workforce Transformation • Earn 3 or more CCP credits at any time during high school • Earn credit for AP or IB course and earn an AP exam score of 3 or higher or IB score of a 4 or higher at any time during high school • Earn a WorkKeys exam score of 3 on each of the three test sections • Earn a State Board-approved industry-recognized credential or credentials that equal at least 3 points • Meet OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal requirements

Which requirements are PHS focusing on? • Complete a capstone project during 12th grade that meets criteria defined by the Ohio Dept of Edu guidance and evaluation process • During 12th grade, complete a work or community service experience, as defined by the Ohio Dept of Edu and Governor’s Office for Workforce Transformation

So what now? • Do well on the upcoming SPRING EOC • Study • Pay attention in class • Prepare for the upcoming year • Get good grades (this can help with your GPA criteria) • Be at school in in class everyday and on time • Find a job or community service position • This could be volunteering at a food bank, humane society, church, clothes bank, etc. • This does not include working or helping out a family member or friend and calling it community service.

  10. Although the state released the alternative pathway… The requirements are getting harder and more defined NOTE: “Guidance available by May 31, 2019” This means we as a school district as well as all public schools in Ohio, don’t know the specifics to some of these requirements such as the; • Capstone Project • Work or community service experience

  11. WorkKeys exam score Due to the high cost of this exam, we won’t determine who will sit for this exam until 2nd semester of 2020.
