Dolphin Fact • Compared to other animals, dolphins are believed to be very intelligent. • Dolphin live in a group. • Dolphin is not a fish it is mammal. • Dolphins use a blowhole on top of their heads to breathe. • Female dolphins are called cows, males are called bulls and young dolphins are called calves • Some fishing methods, such as the use of nets, kill a large number of dolphins every year.

  3. When does female dolphin begin to have babies? • Dolphins may first give birth when they are 6-13 years old, but most often they are about 8 years old.  The baby is born tail-first after a 12-month gestation period. Most babies are born in the Spring – Summer months. Two dolphins continued to have babies until they were 48 years of age.
