  2. Maithili Computer – A Dream Maithili, also a name of Sita, is the Language of Love! the Language of the folk! the Language of Vidyapati! the Language of Nagarjun! but was NOT the Language of Computer !? We Dream!

  3. We Dream To Create Our Own Maithili Computer and the world of Open Source community helped Us! helped our Maithili Community! to achieve our Goal! achieve our Dream!

  4. We Plan We planned to Work on Various Projects! like Operating System, Browser, Desktop Environment, IM, SpellCheker, Glossary etc! We Worked hard!

  5. Maithili Fedora • Fedora is a general purpose collection of software including an operating system based on the Linux kernel. • We worked on making Fedora available in Maithili. We added Locale 'mai'. We worked on several technical issues with open source community. We translated softwares. Fedora 13 is also available in Maithili though we first released Fedora 11 as well.

Maithili FUEL • FUEL is a project that helps languages in solving the Problem of Inconsistency and standardization in Computer Software Translation. • Maithili was not having any basic glossary so the problem can be acute.   11. Maithili Firefox • Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source web browser. It is the most used browser independent of any one operating system. • As a browser, Firefox is becoming more and more important and as desktop is shrinking to browser, it is much more important to have a great browser in Maithili. Though we have already one browser ‘Konqueror’ in Maithili, so we decided to localize Firefox in Maithili.   12. Maithili Hunspell • Hunspell is a spell checker and morphological analyzer designed for languages with rich morphology and complex word compounding or character encoding.   13. Maithili Pidgin/Chatzilla • Pidgin (formerly named Gaim) is a multi-platform instant messaging client that has support for many commonly used instant messaging protocols. Translation available in Maithili.   14. Maithili Computer : Future • Now updating of existing software is a challenge. Huge work done as of today. Huge task ahead to update them from time to time. We hope to do well in this front as well. • OpenOffice.Org is an office suit and we target it to translate in Maithili as well. We have put our request to set up environment to translate it into Maithili. Hope to start soon. • We think to increase the size of spellchecker. We plan to conduct translation review meetings etc to make the existing softwares more usable.
