The Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation
(IndyGo) applied for one-time Federal funding to
demonstrate the value of a commuter express
service in the Central Indiana region. While IndyGo
operates the ICE Routes, funding is completely
covered by the grant and ridership revenue.

Routes determined by 2005 COA (Comprehensive Operational Analysis) recommendations
Required local match commitment from municipalities
Goal to demonstrate demand for commuter transit options to and from Marion County (downtown Indianapolis)

With the early discontinuation of the Greenwood Route due to low ridership, those funds extended the operating time of the Fishers and Carmel Routes
Exhausted funding in December 2010 will result in the discontinuation of the remaining demonstration services in Fishers and Carmel

15. About CIRTA:
The Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority is dedicated to bringing more transportation options that will better connect the urban core of Indianapolis with Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, Boone, Delaware and Madison Counties.
CIRTA, with assistance from IndyGo, is looking at other avenues—and exhausting all possible options—in an attempt to sustain the ICE service.

A collaboration of public entities working toward a regional
transportation vision. Building on decades of research and
the recommendations of a private-sector led task force,
Indy Connect seeks to engage the public in shaping a
regional transportation system that will benefit all Central
