What is the National Lottery The National Lottery is the official state-franchised lottery operated by a private sector company for the benefit of the people of Botswana. The intent is to provide entertainment and opportunity for the people whilst raising money for good causes. The Gambling Authority oversees the licensing and operation of the lottery as well as the distribution of the funds to the various good causes. In terms of our Act, the good causes to benefit are: Charitable expenditure Development of sports and recreation Expenditure on or connected with arts, culture and youth empowerment; and Any other matter approved by the Minister of Finance and Economic Development for that purpose
The National Lottery Application Process The application process includes submitting an expression of interest, attending a compulsory bidders conference, an open and transparent enquiry period as well as pre-submission of information to comply with the section regarding integrity of “fit and proper” requirements.
