What’s New in CS v8.5 New 2D Modelling Functionality It is now possible to model 2D overland flows using InfoWorks CS v8.5. Performance Improvement for Pressure Pipes An enhancement has been made to the simulation engine in order to improve the solution for pressure pipes. The engine divides each conduit into a series of computational cells. In pressure pipes, because the area is constant, and thus the flow is constant along the conduit, the hydraulic gradient will also be constant along the conduit. Therefore, the pressure pipe solver needs to use only two computational nodes (a single computational cell); this improves the speed and robustness of the solution for pressure pipes. Performance Improvement for Water Quality Simulations Enhancements have been made to the simulation engine in order to increase the accuracy of Water Quality model simulations. Number of Runoff Surfaces Increased The number of Runoff Surfaces that can be defined has been increased from 99 to 99999. Ability to Specify End Date / Time in Run Scheduler When scheduling a run, it is now possible to enter an End Date and Time to define the end of the simulation as an alternative to specifying the Duration of the simulation.

What’s New in CS v8.5 Improvement to Display of Pumped Outfalls in the Long Section View An improvement has been made to the Long Section View regarding the drawing of outfalls directly connected to pumps. New Off Delay Field for Pumps A new Off Delay data field has been added to pump objects. This new option allow the user to specify a ramp down time for each pump in the system. Head Discharge Table Enhancements The display of the Head Discharge Table graph has been improved. Options including printing and editing of graph properties are available by right clicking on the graph. GeoPlan Export to DWG New functionality has been added to allow the GeoPlan View to be exported to AutoCAD DWG format. Enhancements to MOUSE Importer It is now possible to import network data from MOUSE files in PFS format. Data can be imported from the Project (MPR) File, Urban Network Data (UND) file and the Hydrological File (HGF).

What’s New in CS v8.5 • Enhancement to Conversion of Grid Ground Models to TIN • Grid models with a large number of vertices can now be converted to TIN by defining a Grid resolution factor in the Create New TIN Ground Model Dialog. The Grid resolution factor enables the conversion of the Grid ground model to a lower resolution TIN. • Enhancement to Find GIS Objects Tool • Objects in additional GIS layers loaded on the GeoPlan View can be searched for using the Find GIS Objects tool. This tool has been improved so that objects found in the GIS Layer are now highlighted blue on the GeoPlan View. • New Simulation Parameters • The following new simulation parameters have been added: • Drop Inertia in Pressure Pipes • The Drop inertia in pressure pipes option can be used to exclude modelling of the inertia (dQ/dt) term for pressure pipes. This feature can be used in conjunction with the Stay pressurised simulation parameters option to stop the occurrence of negative depths in force mains (rising mains). • Relax Tolerance from Run Timestep (2D Simulations) • The Initialisation: Relax tolerance from run t/s and Simulation: Relax tolerance from run t/s have been added for use with 2D Simulations. These options can be used to improve the stability of the simulation by basing tolerance relaxation on the run timestep instead of a timestep of 60s.

What’s New in CS v8.5 New Runoff Volume Model A new Runoff Volume Type has been added to Runoff Surfaces. The Horner model is used to determine the net rainfall on urban subcatchments and was developed for use on impervious surfaces in medium sized subcatchments. New Routing Model A new Routing Model has been added to Runoff Surfaces. The Unit routing model option is used to determine a Unit Hydrograph for the subcatchment from user defined parameters, or from parameters calculated by one of six built in methods. Extended Results Management Functionality The Results Management functionality has been extended to allow all simulations in the database, or all simulations in a Catchment Group, to be displayed in the same Results Management Grid View. Multiline Custom Auto Labels It is now possible to create custom auto labels containing multiple lines of text. Pipe Upstream and Downstream Auto Labels The Auto Label functionality has been enhanced to include the ability to display a links upstream and downstream parameters at the link ends.

What’s New in CS v8.5 • Import/Export of Oracle Data • Importing data from and exporting data to Oracle database is now supported via the Open Data Import Centre and Open Data Export Centre. • Enhancement of Export to GeoDatabase Data • It is now possible to update a Geodatabase Feature Class via the Open Data Export Centre. • Roto-dynamic Pump Enhancements • Improvements have been made to the display of the head-discharge curve and the display of pump results for roto-dynamic pumps: • Pump Curve Page • It is now possible to enter mechanical power values in a Head Discharge Table in addition to the head and discharge values. • For roto-dynamic pumps, this curve can also be viewed and edited on the new Pump Curve Page. Nominal flow and an electric mechanical power ratio for the pump can be specified on the same page. Rated values of head, power and efficiency are calculated and a graph displaying discharge, efficiency and electric power curves is drawn. • Pump Operation Results Graph • A new Pick Graph option has been added for roto-dynamic pumps. Operation of a roto-dynamic pump can be analysed by viewing the curve for the pump and all of the operating points for the pump during the simulation.
