Who Are We? • Located in Willow Grove, Montgomery County • 4 building district with approximately 3100 students • Currently two person department (one high school one middle school) • Recently updated our curriculum to be more Tech Ed/ Stem compliant
History of our TV Studio • The High School had a fully functioning analog broadcast studio • Removed in the late 90’s • Middle School has maintained analog capability • Interest in reviving TV program for Home room announcements
Brainstorming Our Needs • Renovations switched TV’s to projectors • Needed to “broadcast” to approximately 40 users at once • Little to no funding available
Brainstorming Solutions • Ustream to broadcast • No local server needed but 40 computers streaming video from the internet would quickly use up the available bandwidth. • Web Streaming provider: V-brick • No bandwidth issues • Cost prohibitive • Multicasting • Solved cost and bandwidth issues
Multicasting • Multicasting - the delivery of information to a group of destination computers simultaneously in a single transmission from the source creating copies automatically by the routers.

Putting It All Together • Gathered equipment from various departments • Utilized graduates of the Middle School Program • Re-trained on equipment • Taught the difference between Digital and Analog • Developed graphic pieces
Hurdles • Reprogramming teachers to turn on computers/projectors • Teaching basic trouble shooting • Dealing with different computer/projector specifications/resolutions • Most teachers have laptops-underpowered • Overtaxing Mac unit • Homeroom computer tasks
