(Open calls for projects) Number of approved project applications in tender No.1 – 31 • Available ERDF co-funding – LVL 2,000,000.00 • Repayment as at 31/12/2006 – LVL 845,747.37 Problems: • Decrease of amount of work to be done due to increase in costs in construction sector; • Insufficient quality of project applications; • Final beneficiaries are not aware of terms and conditions of agreements signed; • Shortage of personnel in municipalities for work with project implementation. • No indicators set for sub-activity in the PC. Sub-activity 1.2.2.2 Sub-activity 1.2.2.2: Improvement of Riga city transport management and traffic safety infrastructure elements and public transport management. National programme: Improvement of Riga city transport system 2004 – 2006 (6 projects): • Total costs – LVL 28,078,282.58 • Total eligible costs – LVL 23,795,154.74 • ERDF co-funding – LVL 15,756,162.88 • 1 sub-project completed; • 5 sub-projects being implemented. Problems: • Project costs increased due to rapid increase in costs in construction sector; • Acquisition of land impedes implementation of sub-projects. Activity 1.2.3 Activity 1.2.3: Improvement of seaports infrastructure and seaside accessibility. National programme “National programme for reconstruction and development of common hydrotechnical constructions of Latvian small ports(2004-2006)” (2 projects). • Total costs – LVL 4,108,104.65 • Total eligible costs – LVL 3,393,990.97 • ERDF co-funding – LVL 2,545,493.23 • Sub-projects are being implemented. Repayment as at 31/12/2006 – LVL 985,790.81 Problems: • Decrease of amount of work to be done due to increase in costs in construction sector, as well as extra work needed. Activity 1.2.3 Reconstruction of the Northern breakwater in the seaport of Mērsrags” (1st stage) MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT, REPUBLIC OF LATVIA
Activity 1.2.4 Activity 1.2.4: Modernisation of passenger railway rolling stock for commuting traffic to Riga. National programme “National programme for development of Riga short-distance railway passenger transportation 2005 – 2013” (2 projects). • Total costs – LVL 17,696,168.00 • Total eligible costs – LVL 11,338,571.00 • ERDF co-funding – LVL 8,503,928.00 Problems: • Due to rapid increase in prices of raw materials, costs have increased, as a result of which the amounts of implementation have been reduced; • Insufficient capacity of the factory, as a result of which it was necessary to amend the agreement between AS “Pasažieru vilciens” and AS “RVR” (incl. work performance schedule). Activity 1.3.3 Measure 1.3: Development of information and communication technologies. Activity 1.3.3: Development of information and communication technologies in geographically remote areas by expanding high-quality broadband networks. National programme "Development of high-quality broadband networks in geographically remote areas” is in the approval process. • Planned funding – LVL 4,754,856.41 • Planned ERDF co-funding – LVL 3,022,154.50 Problems: • Such measure has not been implemented so far, therefore it was difficult to draft a NP and NP project.
