DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. is an American animation studio based in California. • It creates animated feature films, TV programs and online virtual worlds. • Released a total of 27 feature films including Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, Monsters vs. Aliens, etc • As of June 2013, its feature films have made $11 billion worldwide,with its $430 million average gross surpassing all other studios besides Pixar ($595 million). • Three of DreamWorks Animation's films—Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Shrek Forever After—are among the 50 highest-grossing films. And fifteen of the films are among the 50 highest-grossing animated films, with Shrek 2 being the fourth all-time highest. • Even though the studio also made traditionally animated films earlier, all of their films now utilize computer-animation. • The studio has so far received two Academy Awards along with numerous Annie & Emmy Awards; as well as multiple Golden Globe & BAFTA nominations.

The studio was formed by the merger of the feature animation division of DreamWorks and Pacific Data Images (PDI). • Originally formed under the banner of DreamWorks in 1997 by some of Amblin Entertainment’s former animation branch it was spun off into a separate public company in 2004. • Films produced by DreamWorks Animation were formerly distributed worldwide by the live-action DreamWorks studio, then by Paramount Pictures, who acquired the live-action DreamWorks studio in February 2006. • In 2013, 20th Century Fox, took over distribution of DreamWorks Animation films for a 5-year-deal.

F Zanuck and Joseph M. Schenck. • Twentieth Century Fox has distributed various commercially successful film series, including Star Wars, Ice Age, X-Men, Planet of the Apes, etc. • 20th Century Fox is a member of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). • 2oth Century Fox Animation is an animation division of this studio

Blue Sky Studios is an American computer animation film studio based in Connecticut. • Founded in 1987 by the visual effects team behind Tron. • It is owned since 1997 by 2oth Century Fox. • Using its in-house rendering software, the studio had worked on visual effects for commercials and films, before releasing in 2002 its first animated film, Ice Age, and completely dedicated to producing animated films. • The studio has produced eight animated films, with Ice Age and Rio being the most successful franchises.

United Artists Corporation (UA) is an American film studio. • The original studio of that name was founded in 1919 with the intention of controlling the creators own interests rather than depending upon the powerful commercial studios. • The current United Artists formed in November 2006 under a partnership between producer/actor Tom Cruise and his production partner, Paula Wagner and Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Studios Inc., an MGM company. • It is now a fully owned subsidiary of MGM, which itself is owned by MGM holdings.

Orion Pictures Corporation was an American Independent production company that produced films from 1978 until 1998. • It was formed in 1978 as a joint venture between Warner Bros. and three former top-level executives of United Artists. • Woody Allen, James Cameron, Jonathon Demme, Oliver Stone, and several other prominent directors worked with Orion during its most successful years from 1978 to 1992. • Of the films distributed by Orion, four won Academy Awards for Best Picture: Amadeus (1984), Platoon (1986), Dances with Wolves (1990), and The Silence of the Lambs (1991).

(also known as Universal Pictures), is an American motion picture studio, owned by Comcast through its wholly owned subsidiary NBC universal. • It is one of the six major studios. • Its production studios are at California while Distribution and other corporate offices are in New York City. • Founded in 1912 it is the oldest movie studio in the United States of America. • It is also the fourth oldest in the world that is still in continuous production. • The resulting media super-conglomerate was renamed NBC Universal, while Universal Studios Inc. remained the name of the production subsidiary. • It also acquired rights to several prominent filmmakers' works originally released by other studios through its subsidiaries over the years. • Three of Universal Studios' films—Jaws (1975), E.T The Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Jurassic Park (1993)—achieved box office records, each becoming the highest-grossing film made at the time.

Paramount Pictures Corporation is a film and television production/distribution studio, consistently ranked as one of the largest (top-grossing) film studios. • A subsidiary of U.S. media conglomerate Viacom, Paramount is a member of the Motion Picture Association (MPAA). • It has distributed various commercially successful film series, such as Shrek, Transformers, Mission: Impossible, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, Kung Fun Panda, Friday the 13th, Madagascar, etc.

  19. Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. (CPII) is an American film production and distribution studio. Columbia Pictures now forms part of the Columbia Tri-Star Motion Picture Group owned by Sony Entertainment. • It is one of the leading film studios in the world, a member of the Bix Six. • The studio, founded in 1918 with the release of its first feature film in August 1922. It adopted the Columbia Pictures name in 1924 and went public two years later. The name is derived from “Columbia” a “national personification” of the United States, which is used as the company's logo. • In 1982, the studio was purchased by Coca-Cola; that same year it launched TriStar Pictures as a joint venture with HBO and CBS. • Five years later, Coca-Cola spun off Columbia, which merged with Tri-Star to create Columbia Pictures Entertainment. • After a brief period of independence with Coca-Cola maintaining a financial interest, the combined studio was acquired by Sony in 1989.

Sony Pictures Animation is an American animated film production company owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, founded in May 2002. • It is working closely with Sony Pictures Imageworks, which takes care of the digital production. Theatrical releases are distributed by Columbia Pictures, and direct-to-video releases are distributed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. • Their first feature film Open Season was released on September 29, 2006. The studio's most financially successful movie to date is the Smurfs.

Studios, commonly referred to as Warner Bros. or simply WB—is an American producer of film, television, and music entertainment. • One of the major film studios, it is a subsidiary of Time Warner . • Warner Bros. has several subsidiary companies, including Warner Bros. Studios, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Home Video, New Line Cinema, The WB.com and DC entertainment. • Warner Bros. is a member of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

New Line Film Productions Inc., often simply referred to as New Line Cinema, is an American film studio. • It was founded in 1967 by Robert Shaye as a film distribution company, later becoming an independent film studio. • It became a subsidiary first of Turner Broadcasting, then Time Warner in 1996 and was merged with larger sister studio Warner Bros. in 2008.

Walt Disney Animation Studios, formerly known as Walt Disney Feature Animation, Walt Disney Productions and Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, is an American Animation studio which creates films, short films and television specials for The Walt Disney Company. • Founded on October 16, 1923. The studio has produced 52 feature films, beginning with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), and most recently with Wreck-It-Ralph (2012). • During The Walt Disney’s Company’s corporate restructuring in 1986, the studio officially became a subsidiary of the company under the name Walt Disney Feature Animation, and took on its current name in 2006, when it was folded under The Walt Disney Studios alongside Pixar Animation Studios, which was acquired by Disney in the same year. • For much of its existence, the studio was recognized as the premier American animation studio, and developed many of the techniques which became standard practices of Traditional animation. • The studio's catalog of animated features are among Disney's most notable assets, and the stars of its animated shorts—Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, etc. • Walt Disney Animation Studios, today managed by Pixar heads continues to produce animated features using both hand-drawn and CGI imagery techniques. • Their 54th,Big Hero 6, is currently in development and set for release on November 7, 2014.

Pixar Animation Studios is an American computer animation film studio. • The studio is best known for its photo-realistic CGI-animated feature films . • Pixar began in 1979 as the Graphics Group, part of the computer division o Lucas Film. before its spin-out as a corporation in 1986 with funding by Apple Inc. • The Walt Disney Company bought Pixar in 2006 at a valuation of $7.4 billion, a transaction which made Jobs Disney's largest shareholder. • Pixar has produced 14 feature films beginning with Toy Story in 1995 . • All fourteen films have debuted with Cinema Score ratings of at least "A-", indicating a very positive reception with audiences. • The studio has also produced several short films. As of July 2013, its feature films have made over $8.3 billion worldwide,with an average worldwide gross of $597 million per film. • Both Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3 are among the 50 highest-grossing films of all time, • The studio has earned 27 Academy Awards, sevenGolden Globe Awards, and eleven Grammy Awards. • Most of Pixar's films have been nominated for the Academy award for best animated feature with seven winning: Finding Nemo, The Increadibles, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up, Toy Story 3, and Brave.

Marvel Animation is an American animation production company. • The Marvel Studios subsidiary was incorporated on January 25, 2008 to direct Marvel's efforts in animation and home entertainment markets. • Marvel Animation on incorporation included then ongoing animation efforts by Marvel Studios with Lionsgate and Nickelodean. • Marvel Animation operates under the Marvel Television division of Marvel Studios.
