  2. Aspiration • Students should have many aspirations, including finishing middle school, graduating, and finding a way to start a food fight without getting caught.

  3. indelible • Writing on a desk with pencil is one thing. Writing on a desk with indelible ink is an entirely different thing.

  4. obscure • The school operated under an obscure set of rules.

  5. quaint • The one-room schoolhouse was too quaint for the hipster.

  6. diplomat • The student council was made up of the most unusual set of diplomats- the class clown, the math geek, and the homecoming queen.

  7. premier • Mrs. Hying considers herself to be the premier 8th grade English teacher on this floor.

  8. neutral • When it comes to fights at recess, try to be like Switzerland… just don’t get involved.

  9. salutation • When a teacher offers up a salutation in the morning, it’s polite to return it.

  10. foreword • The worst part of any book is the foreword. Who cares what some unrelated odd-ball has to say about the story, just let me read!

  11. confiscate • The students cried when their phones were confiscated.
