  2. Purpose • Identify areas of concern • Eliminate unnecessary interference with district ability to improve student performance • Improve district ability to operate efficiently and effectively • Preserve original intent of rule

  3. Eligible for review: • Commissioner Rules in 19 TAC Chapters: • 30, 53, 61, 62, 74-76, 89, 95, 97, 100-103, 105, 109, 129, 150, 153, 157, 161, and 176 • Any Commissioner’s rules proposed for adoption • Corresponding TEA regulations and guidance related to Commissioner’s rules • Not eligible: TEKS and other SBOE rules

Topics • Accountability/assessment/accreditation – Chapters 97, 100, 101, 109 • Funding/spending regulations/reporting/facilities – Chapters 61, 62, 105, 109, 129 • Curriculum /Instruction/Programs – Chapters 74, 75, 89, 102 • Educators – Chapters 150, 153, 102 • Supplemental/support programs and services - Chapters 61, 75, 76, 89, 103, 176 • Miscellaneous - Chapters 30, 53,157, 161

  5. Process: Multiple venues Web-based response • Regional stakeholder meetings at each of the 20 ESCs • Associations or groups convene meetings and/or coordinate review • Webinars • Individuals • Feedback via web portal

  6. Timeline April 15 – July 23 – Review and comments to TEA July 26 – September 30 – TEA review and analysis Beginning October 1 – Formal rule changes begin

  7. Providing Feedback • Must be provided in electronic form • Must be aligned to a Rule number • Must include the following: • Issue or problem • Proposed change • Rationale for change • Information about respondent
