  1. Eurasia- the large land mass that includes both Europe and Asia. Geographers consider the Ural Mountains to be the boundary.

  2. Topography- refers to the shape and elevation of a region.

  3. Southern Europe- Most people lived on coastal plains or in river valleys where the land was flat enough to farm. Crops- people grew drops that could survive the dry summers (grapes, olives) Livestock- people raised sheep and goats Occupation- traders and seafarers

  4. Northern Europe- Because rivers were an easy method of transportation, towns grew up around them. Paris- city in France built on an island in a river fro protection Occupation- farmers and traders Invasion- flat land made an easy route for invaders to follow. Region was frequently invaded.
