  1. There, Their and They’re! These are three commonly confused HOMOPHONES, but each have different meanings

  2. I can’t take it! People who mix up there, their and they're drive me crazy! It's worse than not knowing the difference between your left and your write.

  3. THERE • There means in or at the place pointed to, indicated or referred to. • There refers to a PLACE (specified or unspecified). • It can also be used to show that something exists. The opposite of THERE is HERE(if you can replace there with here it is correct).

  4. THEIR • Their is a possessive pronoun that means “to belong.” • Their shows OWNERSHIP. • Their is used to indicate possession. If you can replace “their” with “our” you are using the correct word.

  5. THEY’RE • They’re is used as a contraction which means “they are.” If you can say the words “they are” in the sentence, then you are using the correct form. Example: The following sounds FUNNY……. The dog sat over they are for ten minutes. Correct: They’re thinking of getting a dog. They are thinking of getting a dog.
