The Regulator Movement • There was no law enforcement agency in the Upcountry • Settlers began acting as vigilantes and taking law enforcement matters into their own hands • This became known as the Regulator movement
7 Circuit Courts • Regulator movement grew out of control • Innocent people were harmed • SC government came to the aid of the Upcountry and set up 7 courthouses • Provided justice, law, and order
