  1. Top Tips for Using Longspan Shelving to Enhance Warehouse Storage CALCULATE THE WAREHOUSE SIZE 01 Begin by measuring the whole square footage of the warehouse. Then subtract space that isn’t used for storage such as toilets, offices, and break rooms. Then multiply the remaining square footage by the height of the warehouse, starting from the warehouse floor to the furthest stored overhead object. CALCULATE THE STORAGE AREA 02 Multiply the width and length of the outside dimensions of your shelving systems by the highest point of a stored load. If you have various height differences, calculate them all separately and then add them all up afterwards. PARTY PLANNING CHECKLIST 03 Divide the size of the storage area by the total size of the warehouse and then multiply by 100. The number will represent the potential amount of storage space in your warehouse, depending on your setup. CALCULATE THE SPACE UTILISATION 04 Add up the total volume of products stored in the warehouse, which is easy to obtain from your WMS (Warehouse Management System). Just divide the volume of all products by the size of the storage area and then divide by 100.
