Road to Rio 2016 OPEX Selection Criteria Tier One Athletes in this category will receive comprehensive support from SASCOC. Certain restrictions will however still apply in terms of items covered and those not covered. For athletes to qualify for support under this tier, they shall meet the following criteria: • Athletes who were medalists at the L2012 Olympic/ Paralympic Games and are still eligible for 2016 participation; • Athletes who were finalists at the L2012 Olympic/Paralympic Games and are still eligible for 2016 participation; • New athletes who are now ranked in the top 6 to 8 in the World.
Preparation for Rio 2016 OPEX Selection Criteria Tier Two • Junior and Youth athletes who were medalists and finalists at the inaugural 2010 Youth Olympic Games, who are eligible for participation and have potential to return medals at the 2016 Olympic/Paralympic Games; • Junior and Youth athletes who were medalists and finalists at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games and are eligible for participation and have potential to return medals at the 2016 Olympic/ Paralympic Games; • Athletes who were medalists at IPC sanctioned events • Certain restrictions will still apply in terms of items covered and those not covered. This will be finalized in discussions with the athletes and National Federation.
Preparation for Rio 2016 OPEX Selection Criteria Tier three • Athletes, who are not in the above categories, however have consistently proven their potential to return medals at major international events. SASCOC will, at the motivation of the NFs, consider supporting these athletes, • The support for these athletes will be determined by SASCOC and shall solely focus on key aspects of preparation as shall be agreed with the athlete, coach and NF.

Generic Selection Policy • Continental qualification shall be considered taking the following into effect: • Number of countries actively participating in that particular sport • Competitiveness of the various countries participating in the sport • Mainly for junior and youth athletes being groomed for future performances
Specific Selection Policy • 2014 Commonwealth Games • Top 5 in the Commonwealth • No Continental Qualification • 2015 All Africa Games • Individual athletes shall be ranked in the top 3 and Team Sports shall be ranked in the top 5 in Africa to be eligible for final selection; • Ranking outside the top 3 shall be considered for Junior and Youth athletes being earmarked for transition to senior events; • All athletes shall have participated at the various sport specific continental events.

Briefing on NFs Cricket South Africa: • The new Board of CSA was constituted as per the agreement between CSA, SASCOC and the leadership of Sport & Recreation • Subsequently we wrote to CSA reminding them of the agreement to revert to the King Protea as the sport symbol of our country • No combination logo • Letter in 2011 and 2012 • December 2012 – concession period ends • Unfortunately they have seen fit to leak this to the media • We indicated our obligation to protect the King Protea and flag and anthem of our country

The ASA leadership not doing the sport good • President James Evans – one man show even after being impeached • Pays himself R20 000 per month – no resolution for this from General Membership • Settled ex CEO CCMA R360 000 – no board resolution • Settled ex GM CCMA R400 000 – no board resolution
Briefing on NFs Athletics South Africa: • Came to us in December 2012 • Called in on January 2013 • Called for meeting of SASCOC/ ASA Boards • Had above meeting sworn affidavit from finance manager Terrance Magogodela. • ASA Board members constituted meeting to impeach – success 33 for 1 against 4 abstentions – James Evans refuses to leave.
Briefing on NFs Athletics South Africa: • Various actions by ASA – Arbitration court action by James Evans, Counter by HendrickRamaala • Latest suspension of 6 Board members by James Evans – Unconstitutional • 6 members suspended – effectively no Board left to govern the organisation. • SASCOC Board will consider this situation at its Board meeting of Friday 12 April 2013
Briefing on NFs South African Football Association: • Engaged on 3 issues oMatch Fixing o Financial situation o Complaints from members of SAFA • Initially questioned our jurisdiction • Then finally met and agreed way forward on the 3 items • Interestingly they only want to remember it the way they want to
Briefing on NFs South African Football Association: •Met with Minister Mbalula for routine meeting to give update on various issues including SAFA • Informed Honourable Minister Mbalula on the issues we raised with SAFA in the meeting with SAFA • Task the Honourable Minister through the precarious financial position of SAFA as per SAFA’s own financial statement of 30 June 2012 o R92 Million in the red o Use of legacy funding o Purchase of Mercedes Benz cars o Purchase of busses oEtc, etc
Briefing on NFs South African Football Association: •Document left unanimously at SASCOC security, given to the Hawks for investigation. • Response from Hawks for us to do forensic audit into the finances of SAFA. • Subsequently Honourable Minister Mbalula wrote to SASCOC asking for a full report and recommendations as per the Sport Act. • Completed dossier and given to Honourable Minister recommending judicial commission of enquiry from SASCOC board.
Briefing on NFs South African Football Association: •Subsequently the attack from SAFA has become personal on the CEO of SASCOC. • Tried to get a motion of no confidence in the CEO at the SASCOC General Meeting. • Don’t understand that this cannot be done and is not regular as the CEO carries out mandate of the SASCOC Board. • We await Honourable Ministers way forward before we exercise our rights if we have to when the judicial commission of enquiry only addresses match fixing.
