  4. LIBROS LEGE 2009 – The Contest The universal GOALS of the Contest: • 1. exploring other cultures throughliterature, • 2. developing reading habits, • 3. learning how to listen andcomprehend the text.

  5. LIBROS LEGE 2009 - The Contest Each Contestant must: 1. have a valid Library Card 2. be over 13 years old (born before March 3rd, 1996) Please Note! The Contest is closed for English schools graduates, speakers and English language teachers.

  6. A.The contest is carried out in 2 rounds: 1st Round at County/Community level 2nd Round – Final – at Warsaw Public Library B. Eachcontestant prepares 2 excerpts of American prose. The First Excerptfrom thelist of 10 titles; the performing time is limited to 3 minutes for each contestant. The Second Excerptis selected atRANDOMfrom the book„Flight of Eagles” by Robert Karolevitz . C.Each contestant is expected to conduct a short chat in English after the reading.   10. LIBROS LEGE 2009 – The Literature „F L I G H T of E A G L E S” A dramatic story about the heroic unit of American pilots who supported the Polish Army in the war with Soviet Russia 1919-1920. None of them had Polish roots. Recognized as Polish national heroes the pilots were honoured with the highest Medal VIRTUTI MILITARI by General Jozef Piłsudski himself.

  13. LIBROS LEGE 2009 – The Jury The Jury appraises each presentationaccording to the following criteria: 1/ selection of the text, 2/ language suitability, 3/ interpretation and comprehension of the text.

  24. LIBROS LEGE 2009 The AWARDS All other AWARDS are available also for younger contestants, born before March 3rd, 1996. 10 Winners shall receive special Awards in Kind and shall pay a special visit to the US Embassyin Warsaw and Polish Consulate General in Chicago.
