It is CRUCIALLY important that you know named examples and case studies of the processes and landforms that we have studied. Fill in the list below as we complete the topic:
understand the source of energy for coastal processes(Waves formation and type) know the processes of coastal erosion; describe the formation of coastal erosion features (cliffs, headlands, caves, arches and stacks) and name examples; know and explain the process of coastal transport (longshore drift) describe the formation of coastal deposition features (beaches; spits; bars and tombolos) and name examples; be able to describe methods and techniques of coastal management know a case study of coastal erosion and management - including the impact of management of one coastal area on an area further down the coast. Learn Holderness Coast (Humberside) What you MUST know! Every time you have a test or exam tick this list when you have learnt each one. Use a different colour each time!
LANDFORMS! The landforms that we study during this topic are very important and there will ALWAYS be questions about them in the exam so…….. • For each of the landforms that we have learnt you must be able to describe and explain their formation. Remember to make use of geographical vocabulary and always name some of the processes (either erosion, transportation or deposition) involved in your answers. You should also be able to draw a labelled diagram to help you explain the formation and you must learn a named example of each • And here they are! Make sure you can do this for all of them! • cliffs, wave cut notches and wave cut platforms • Caves, arches, stacks, stumps • Beaches, spits, bars and tombolos
