Contemporary Designer Furniture Brings Back Balmoral House The dated Tuscan interior (including a high gloss timber fireplace and yellow sponged walls) of this Balmoral home was lovingly revitalised into today by one of our favourite interior designers, Sarah Davison. The goal was simple, with minimal structural changes to the house, the focus was on transforming the Tuscan-style interior into a modern, glamourous and warm home with clever paint choices and inspired designer furniture throughout. One of the only areas to require a few structural changes was the kitchen, opening it up to be a great open plan expanse of work space and dining. Incorporating the same colour palette of black/charcoal, white and timber the kitchen is a true Sarah Davison wonder. In keeping with the glamourous feel of the home you’ll find Nero Marquina marble for the counter tops, black stained joinery and an eclectic mix of pendant designer lighting. The white painted ceilings and streaming natural light compliment the darkness and make this truly a highlight of the home. "If you’re going to do it, do it right. It’s a house that has evolved with us. Rather than renovating it all at once, it has given us lots of nice surprises, so we appreciate it more. " Home owner The formal living however, kicks the chic glamour to another level. A red Barcelona chaise sits with a clear view of the Harbour Bridge and the fireplace, once a glossy timber has been stained black as it seems to disappear into the charcoal wall behind it. The family room is the most comfortable and laidback in the home. Varnished timber ceilings were left in their original state to create a cosy atmosphere. Perfect living room
designer furniture, Edra sofas; plush and low to the ground create just the right amount of relax in a room without being too informal. Accents of gold and green are the perfect highlight colour to the black/white/timber palette. The Atollo lamp shines from above the canopy bed, dressed in crisp white linen. The home definitely does not disappoint where the outdoor spaces are concerned. Creeping jasmine trees, fragrant from Spring through to Autumn frame the outlook from the family room and lead directly to the family pool. The patio off the formal living room is an exercise in comfortable chic. A plush white sofa and chaise with a cane hanging chair in one corner and sculpture by Robert Klippel in the other is a peaceful oasis. The views of the most incredible water way in Australia don’t hurt either.
