Presentation 4 steps • Plan objective, target • Prepare data, structure, timing • Practice rehearse, review • Present clear, attractive
Context - structure • Size of the room • Size of the group • Type of presentation • Audio-visual resources available
Content • How much information to transmit? • What sort of information/- Numbers?- Ideas and concepts?- Pictures? • What level of audience?
Style • How much interaction with the audiences do I require? • What are they expecting? • What is the nature and culture?
Do the simple thing • Dress • Eye contact • Attitude • Speech • Articulation • Speed
Lecture – impact on listener • 7% : verbal (words) • 38% : vocal (volume, pitch, rhythm, etc) • 55% : body language
Body Language • Face: expression, smile, head • Figure: posture, clothes, hand • Focus: eye contact, distraction material • Territory: personal space
Before presentation • Go before time 2-3 hr • Test the light, sound, dark spot • Test computer compatibility • Test powerpoint presentation - VDO • Be familiar with presentation aidsmouse presentation, laser pointer
How to present?? • Stand up • Eye contact with audience • Speak clearly and slowly • Use silence • Interactive
Using laser pointer • Pointer points on target • Steady, no fast movement • Should not point to text like “karaoke” • Shaking of pointer reduced by practicing, stabilize to body or podium
