FY11 Accomplishments Corridor Integrated Weather System (CWIS) SWIM CWIS capability became operational in December 2010 Integrated Terminal Weather System (ITWS) SWIM ITWS capability became operational in January 2011 Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) AIM demonstrated SWIM-compliant Special Use Airspace (SUA) Automated Data Exchange Initial Operating Capability (IOC) in December 2010
Planned FY 11 Activities • En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) re-plan • Network Clock Design Review for Network Time Protocol (NTP) • Developing Domain Name Service (DNS) prototype • Developing Compliance Test Kit (CTK) • Developing Open Authorization (oAuth) • Developing Enterprise Service Management (ESM) • Testing Aircraft Access to SWIM (AAtS) at the FAA Florida NextGen Test Bed (FTB) • Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) • Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) • Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) • Weather data 4
Planned FY 11 Activities Developing SWIM Enterprise Messaging System (SEMS) messaging infrastructure • Working from Harris DEX (Data Exchange) • Is a network-centric core services enabling information providers and consumers to exchange information within the National Airspace System (NAS) as well as to external customers • Supports publish/subscribe information exchange via Java Message Service (JMS) Application Program Interfaces (API) and request/response information exchange via Web Services (WS) utilizing Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) messages • The Messaging API provides request/response and publish/subscribe messaging capabilities • Publish/subscribe messaging is provided using primarily JMS • Request/response messaging is provided using WS
SOA Governance The November 2010 Authorization to Proceed (ATP) from the Joint Resources Council (JRC) set forth SOA governance process SWIM provides recommendations to the Enterprise Architecture Board/Technical Review Board (EAB/TRB) based on a SOA suitability assessment Final approval resides with EAB/TRB Selected programs use SWIM-provided SOA and meet SWIM-compliance requirements
Cloud Computing SWIM to identify which FAA IT services to move and when Identify sources of value for cloud migrations: efficiency agility innovation Determine cloud readiness: security market availability government readiness technology lifecycle
