N-XYTER FEB_D PCB • Changed/added in rel. to FEB_C: • Increased NXYTER bond pitch • 0.3V drop LDOs used • Separated supply regulators • PT100 sensor out • Alternative connector for separated LVDs and common mode signals • Testpoints • New power connector • I2C and SPI spike filter I2C reads now: • Temperature • Current • Testchannels Slow, Fast I2C RW: • Serial EEprom for data storage
N-XYTER PCB Cooling Plate • Cooling Block for FEB_B, FEB_C and FEB_D • Design by Carmen Simons
N-XYTER Demonstrator • Input pitch 100um • PCB size 65mm x 80mm • Cooling of 14W power with • bottom copper or Al plate • ADC device on bottom side • Ext. power supply regulation Open task: • Staggered NXYTER bonds to one layer input fan • Data output connection
Multiphase DC/DC converter step down test • Target ist to develop power supply converters for high magnetic field environments. • The used test design is a 2 Phase DC/DC step down converter TI TPS4031EVM • Manufacturers spec.: • Converter 12V to 3.3V, >82% eff. • 30mVpp ripple @40A output • 190kHz each phase Test preparation: • 800nH coils are replaced by air coils • Output set to 3.3V • Load ~0.5 Ohm • 1.6 Tesla environment
DC/DC Converter Results • Measured during test: • Load 5.5A @ 2.4V out (2x5m cable to load) • 0.6Vpp ripple / 380kHz • 61% efficiency • Ripple reduction by increasing phase frequency • EM reduction with toroid air coil design and copper shield • Spread spectrum clocking?
Piezo 2KV generator test • Target was to test a piezo-device in a high magnetic field environment. • Design used is a PZT high voltage power supply PPT04P2020XB1/ MMech • Manufacturers spec.: • Max. 4W output • Max. 2mA output • >70% eff. • Max 0.1% Vpp ripple • Converter in 8-14V • Analog adjustable 0..2KV Test preparation: • A 30uH shielded coil was replaced by an air coil • Output set to 1KV • 1M Ohm load • 1.6 Tesla environment
2KV Piezogenerator test results Measured during test: • 0.6% Vpp ripple @ 1KV / 1W output • 66% efficiency Ripple reduction by: • Air coil design An attenuation of noise spikes in magnetic field was detected. Output measured with 100:1 prescaler
Status • FEB-D PCB - Assembling ongoing • Demonstrator - Finish of prototype when FEB-D manufacturing is fixed • Power supply tests - Switching converters with more phases and optimized air coils - Step down piezoelectric-converters - Beam-Test with piezo-device
