  1. Ericsson HC R7A Upgrade • Connect via Serial connection

  2. Software Base line R7A • . Make sure SWP is in the PTP/Output folder

  3. Begin upload • The uploader will automatically start your trivial FTP server • Upload in progress

  4. Select Download boards • Load each module seperately

  5. Select Software activation • Software activation will swap the stored version for the running. • This will cause a traffic outage • Sometimes the units never restart

  7. Check Software Baseline Alignment • This will stop link configuration • Generally will self align after upgrade • Check to be certain • Always check when installing spares • Link will fail to run in correct mode if base alignment not complete

  8. Problems I have had • Poor serial connection to HC radio • Check it connects within 2 or 3 seconds. If not check connection parameters. LCP etc and compression must be off. • TFPT transfer runs SLOW or stops. Check PTP is properly installed • Files are not found or SWP not located. Check that the SWP is in c:\program files\minilink ptp\output. • Wrong serial cable. Must be full hardware cable. Check data flow using a RS232 test unit.

  9. Do not stop upload as this may cause the unit to fail irrepairably • If in doubt make sure you can ping the HC radio’s serial address. 192.168.0.1. Make an entry into your hosts file! • User = administrator • Password = administrator • Connect as administrator service ONLY
