Louisiana Purchase

During the early 1800s, Americans ventured west in search of land and adventure, settling in the Western Territory. They loaded their belongings into Conestoga Wagons, sturdy vehicles topped with white canvas. Facing challenges like dense forests, settlers valued rifles for protection. The Louisiana Territory, once belonging to Spain, extended from New Orleans to the Rocky Mountains. The French threat arose when France acquired the territory from Spain. Jefferson's administration made a historic deal, acquiring the Louisiana Territory for $15 million. This significant purchase doubled the size of the country.
