Reaching our 2013 Health Program Goals • Introduce “Rewarding a Healthy You” wellness program • Engage and educate employees as consumers of health care • Provide financial incentives to utilize SHC/LPCH facilities and affiliates • Leverage the world-class clinical and research resources available to all of us • Stanford Coordinated Care Program paid for/incentivized by SHC/LPCH* • Wellness program leverages University HIP (Health Improvement Program) • SHC/LPCH Inpatient discounts • Develop programs to support employees on all parts of the health spectrum: • Healthy → stay healthy • At risk → get healthier; reduce risk • Chronic → effectively manage conditions
2013 Wellness Program Incentives • Current approach is to give incentives for taking SHALA ($100) and enrolling in PPO ($400 employee only/$800 employee plus one or more dependents) • 2013 approach shifts focus to activity-based incentives. • Incentives are based on level of participation in various wellness activities • Incentives are available to enrollees in PPO, EPO, or Kaiser HMO • Maximum Annual Incentive is $500 employee only / $1,000 employee plus one or more dependents • Incentives are paid into HSA or HIA if not eligible for HSA • Wellness incentives will be credited at least monthly
2013 Wellness Earn $300 (employee-only)/$600 (employee plus one or more) • SHALA 20 minute Stanford Health & Lifestyle Assessment (SHALA) • Biometrics and advising session to discuss results Certification of Tobacco Use • Be tobacco free or complete a tobacco cessation program • Must complete this step in order to earn additional incentive dollars Earn up to $200/$400 additional incentive dollars Preventive Care • Age specific, gender-specific check-ins with the doctor • Participate in Healthy Lifestyle Activities • Take Healthy Living/fitness classes Become a Wellness Champion • Work with family, friends, colleagues to raise awareness
2013 Wellness Timeline Reminder: The 2012 Health Care FSA and the $100 SHALA contribution can be used for medical, dental and vision expenses incurred on or before December 31, 2012. All claims incurred during 2012 must be submitted by March 15, 2013.
2013 Health Plan Highlights • Continuing from 2012: • Offering PPO, EPO, and Kaiser plans with minimal changes to plan structure, and no-cost preventive services • Medical plan premiums remain zero for Housestaff and dependents • Working Spouse /Eligible Domestic Partner access fee • Working Spouse/Eligible Domestic Partner has access to another employer’s plan, but joins SHC/LPCH plan instead -- $50 per month • Low or no-cost Dental, Vision • Stanford Coordinated Care Program for PPO and EPO participants • Confidential service to help you manage and coordinate your own care, and the care you receive from specialists • Includes 24/7 direct access to a care team with the time to listen and plan your health needs with you, • same day and next day appointments, free access to Stanford’s Better Choices, Better Health chronic disease self-management program, pharmacist review of your medications, coordination of your complex care
2013 Health Plan Highlights • New for 2013: • “Rewarding a Healthy You“ wellness program, with active participation required to earn health improvement incentives • Working Spouse /Eligible Domestic Partner annual recertification • Alignment of Kaiser deductible, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximum with EPO • Regulatory changes • Preventive care for women expanded to include generic and formulary contraceptives (list on HealthySteps4U website) • Healthcare FSA limit lowered by Health Care Reform to $2,500 annual maximum contribution • CareCounsel health care advocacy services • Wide range of resources to help you and your dependents become better health care consumers • Customer service center staffed by experienced health advocates • Confidential support, including benefits assistance, claims troubleshooting, health plan issue resolution, help locating health care resources, overall health care advocacy
2013 Health Plan Highlights • Special Out of Network Behavioral Health Coverage in EPO • For housestaff employee only (dependents must go in-network to receive coverage) • Inpatient coverage is 100% • Outpatient coverage is 80% of UCR charges • Deductible does not apply
Next Steps • 2013 Benefits Open Enrollment November 7 through November 20, 2012 • Review your HealthySteps fall newsletter and your Open Enrollment Guide, or HealthySteps website • The SHC/LPCH Benefits Center will be available to answer questions throughout Open Enrollment (855-349-4437) • Enroll in your 2013 benefits no later than November 20, 2012 • Elect new plans or default to current coverage (if in PPO and want to move to EPO or Kaiser must make election) • If covering spouse, recertify Working Spouse/Eligible Domestic Partner • Reenroll in Dependent Day Care FSA and Health Care FSA, if desired
