References to Shakespeare and its work in “10 things I hate about you”: • Character names • General plot ideas (Father who desires the best for his daughters) • Surname: Stratford upon Avon (Shakespeare’s birthplace) • Kat’s suitor surname in the film is Verona and Petruchio is from Verona • High school’s name: Padua • Tutor- preceptors to be closer to Bianca • Lucentio and Patrick first want Kat for money at the end both fall in love • Pupils at Padua analize and study Shakespeare’s sonnets • Sometimes allude to his style of writing or speech (in this case for comedy value)
