  2. Overview • The HCDA is interested in helping the City of Dover establish a riverfront park along the Tuscarawas River. • The park would span East from the Tuscarawas Bridge along the Northern bank of the river past the Wooster bridge. • The park would include a new public boat ramp, walking paths, playground and visitor information. • Eventually the goal would be to link the park up with the expansion of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Bike Trail.

  3. Public Use Boat Ramp • The HCDA will help raise funds for the public boat ramp through grants and fundraising events like the upcoming 3rd annual Canoe race. • The picture below shows an example of a new ramp that was constructed near the town of Tuscarawas. The ramp incorporates new construction methods that are fast, easy and less expensive. Boater access to the river would be possible year round no matter where the varying seasonal water level may be.

  4. Goals • Help promote and raise awareness of the riverfront park and of its positive attributes for downtown Dover and the surrounding community. • Help raise money to fund a new public use boat ramp. • Foster business and community support to help maintain the park once it is up and running.

  5. Benefits • Takes advantage of a under utilized community resource. • It would add another destination to the downtown that would draw in families and tourists. • Parks help bolster property values in towns and communities. • A downtown riverfront park would help promote the history of Tuscarawas County and of Dover.
