  2. Winter Meeting Seattle Joint Meeting with AAS (very successful and well attended). AAPT endorsed plan to double the number of Physics graduates (bachelors) Of particular note was the announced goal to increase interaction between National and sections, and area chairs ( 48 section reps, and 18 area chairs) Retreats for each group would be scheduled at the ACP in Baltimore (subset met in April, full group in May) New officers VP/pres elect Alex Dickinson Sec Steve Iona 4YC/UNIV rep Gordon Ramsey New Exec. Officer Toufic Hakim

Joint Retreat Section Reps and Area Chairs (May 23-25 2007 )(Now is referred to as AAPT governance retreat) -see report at http://webphysics.davidson.edu/mjb/aapt/pdf/GovRetreatSumm.pdf see website for details http://webphysics.davidson.edu/mjb/aapt/ All AAPT Members are invited to review the content from the Governance Retreat.  Please send suggestions and comments to: Future@aapt.org. Highlights of report/proposal include possible organizational change with 3 additional staff Teacher/Faculty Prep, Content & Instruction, Outreach and & Advocacy Universal membership Every member of a “local network”/section is a national member

Summer/Summer Meeting AAPT name change under study Association Advancing Physics Teaching Straw poll in June (likely can still respond to Future@aapt.org (Blog is coming) Section Rep Area Chairs planning group tasked to meet Ex. Board Candidates will be elected Electronically Vice-President    David M. Cook (Lawrence Univ.) Steven Turley (Brigham Young Univ.) Treasurer    Robert Teese (Rochester Inst. of Tech.) Paul W. Zitzewitz (Univ. of Michigan Dearborn) High School Representative    Elizabeth B. Chesick (Baldwin School)  Nina M. Morley Daye (Orange High School) Good byes to Bernie Khouric, Maria Elena Khouric, Warren Hein, and others.
