Personal Information • Master of Environmental Science at the (Agricultural) University Wageningen in 1984 • Coordinator environmental research programmes in 1985/1988 at the universities of Wageningen and Nijmegen • Lecturer Environmental Science at bachelor and master-level (1988-2006)at Saxion Universities of Applied Sciences
from 1990 focus on Environmental Management in Industry • many projects with students and industry • research-project on “Product oriented environmental management systems” • opportunity from university to start a PhD research-project (part time) • research proposal will be developed this autumn
Situation Review • several reasons for implementing supply chain management practices • stakeholders stimulate practices from their own perspective • Integrated product policy (europe) stimulates supply chain management • many different practices are the result
Research Question(s) • Which supply chain management practices can be defined and explained ? • How effective are these supply chain management practices towards sustainability ? • What differences can be found between the sectors textile and (consumer) electronics ?
Theoretical Background • typologies of supply chain management practices • industrial network management theories • characterics of the sectors chosen • no theoretical definition for sustainability (the definition of the sector itself will be used)
Methodology • method for analysing effectiveness of practices • evaluation methodology will be selected • case-studies within the sectors • action research methodologies are being considered
Organization and Planning • PhD project from January 2007 till January 2011 • tutor will be dr. ir. T. de Bruijn, associate professor of Sustainable Development at Saxion Universities of Applied Sciences • in cooperation with another Dutch University
