Use PureEdge through Jan. 7 Small Business & Conference FOAs Pilot completed Timeline is subject to change due to Grants.gov form development delays OCT NOV DEC JAN FEB NIH Transition to Adobe Forms Adobe forms available for Small Business & Conference FOAs Check FOA for new Adobe forms Begin using Adobe for most Jan. 1 receipts* • * Most receipt dates on or after Jan 1, 2009 must use Adobe, except… • Small business (R41,R42, R43, R44) and conference (R13/U13s) grant applications with Jan. 7, 2009 AIDS submission deadlines • FOAs with non-standard submission dates expiring on or before Jan. 31, 2009 can use PureEdge until the expiration date
NIH is waiting for updates to be made to the SF424 (R&R). We expect to add the newly updated forms to the Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) by December 2008 Some FOAs are Being Published Without Electronic Application Forms Advice to Applicants: Develop your research plan and attachmentsnow. Wait to complete the actual forms until you download the correct application in December.
Adobe Pilot Opportunities • Three FOAs currently piloting Adobe forms • To date, nearly 200 applications have been received • Submission attempt success rates on par with Pure Edge
NIH’s Message to Applicants: BE PREPARED • Review the Funding Opportunity • and begin working on your research plan. N O W ! Go back to the FOA and download the new Adobe application package; don’t forget to check the new application guide. • Ensure ALL computers have Adobe • 8.1.2 or 9.0 installed. December January Submit your application in Adobe for most FOAs (remember, there are exceptions, e.g.,small business and conference FOAs).
