  2. WELCOME • HI , MY NAME IS MARQUEZ YOUNG. MY TOPIC TODAY IS ON CRIME. • CRIME IS A HUGE PROBLEM IN URBAN CITIES. • IT HAS A LOT TO DO WITH GANG VIOLENCE FROM THE NEIGHBORHOODS.

SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMS • CEASEFIRE – communitybased campaignto reduce gun violence • CRIMETOPPERS-an effective crime-solving organization that work with the community and law enforcement to solve crime. • D.A.R.E- gives kids the life skills they need to avoid involvement with drugs, gangs, and violence. • CITIZEN ON PATROL- An outgrowth of the community oriented policing strategy adopted by the Cincinnati Police Department.

THE PLAN • SPORTS ARE A GREAT UNIFIER. • I PLAN TO HAVE NEIGHBORHOOD BASKETBALL LEAGUE. • MY TARGET IS BLACK TEENS IN ROUGH NEIGHBORHOODS • I PLAN TO HAVE 4 TEAMS WITH 2 NEIGHBORHOODS PER TEAM • EXPECTING FOR CRIME TO DECREASE , AND THE VIOLENCE TO STOP. • THERE WILL BE 2 POLICE OFFICERS ON EACH TEAMS TO CONTROL IT. • I WILL NEED ONE GYM TO PRACTICE AND HOST THE GAMES. • THE TOTAL PRICE FOR MY IS ABOUT $250 • FUNDING WILL COME FROM POLICE AND NEIGHBORHOOD DONATIONS

  5. COLLABORATION • MS. MOORE, MY SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER SAYS, “IF THE GANGS DON’T COOPERATE , THEN THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS KEEP TRYING. • EDDIE SUTTON, A OFFICER ON THE TV SHOW LINCOLN HEIGHTS SAYS, “HAVE THEM SQUASH THE BEEF ON THE COURT OR SEE THEM IN THE CEMENTARY.

  6. YOUR PLAN WILL NOT WORK! • PEOPLE MAY SAY ALL IT WILL DO IS CAUSE PROBLEMS. • I SAY WE CAN GET OUT TO PEOPLE THAT’S ON PROBATION AND LOCK THEM UP BECAUSE GANG VIOLENCE IS A PROBATION VIOLATION.
