First line studies coming soon • MESO 2: phase II study of adding vorinostat to pemetrexed /cisplatin [this agent is a histone deacetylase inhibitor and acts to ‘unblock’ certain genes in tumour cells • ADAM: Phase II study of pegylated arginine deaminase/placebo [when chemotherapy not indicated in ASS (arginosuccinate synthetase) negative patients. (this agent depletes tumours of an essential amino acid – arginine)]

  4. Secondline studies No standard treatment but re-challenge with pemetrexed if good first time response accepted No imminent trials in Cambridge
