More Attractions: The Old Post Office Pavilion Built in 1899, the Romanesque old post office now houses a collection of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. There is a 315-foot clock tower and an observation deck with views of the city. Ford's Theatre Produces musicals and plays reflecting family values and American life in the historic theater in which Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. The Kennedy Center Nation's performing arts center, presenting the best music, dance, theatre, international, and children's programs in six theatres. Hours/prices vary. Free performances 6 pm daily. The National Cathedral Standing at one of the city's highest points, this soaring Gothic cathedral extends almost the length of two football fields and pierces the city's skyline.
