Enhancing Dairy Value Chain Efficiency in Uganda with OER - Makerere University Initiative

Makerere University is collaborating with the farming community to improve the dairy value chain in Uganda using OER. The project focuses on curriculum enhancement, knowledge transfer, joint learning, and identifying and solving key challenges. The initiative includes student-centered research, curriculum development, farmer training, and impact assessment. The goal is to create and disseminate high-quality OER to support agricultural education in Africa.

Assess impact ADOPT OER Extension Curricular Policy Joint Learning THE STUDENT: SERVICE LEARNING Intervention: MVC Knowledge and Technology transfer / exchange Joint Reviews, learning Joint Reviews, Learning Joint solutions, Learning With Farming Community, identify priority challenges along milk value chain (MVC) and undertake baseline studies

Objective 1: Create an enabling institutional environment to support the adoption of the AgShare student-centred research methodology • MoA with Saide • Identified farming society (KLCS) • Inception meetings: Academic staff, KLCS and then joint • MoA with KLCS • Curriculum review (internal and external)
