Objective: Students will be able to construct a strong argumentative essay on The Scarlet Letter by developing their vocabulary skills, analysis of textual evidence and adherence to an outline. Agenda • Do Now • Discussion/Sharing: -Analyze the Evidence of Adversities and Overcoming Adversities in chapters 22-24 (from The Scarlet Letter). Take notes as students share their analysis of the the evidence. • Mini-Lesson: Review the argumentative essay requirements, including the SPAPAC outline format. Introduce the Grading Rubric and essay preparation packet. • Reflections: Do you feel more prepared to write the argumentative essay? How were we able to improve our essay skills today?
