  1. Organization and Planning How to stay sane and on top of the new report card.

  2. Get Organized • Pick a method of organizing lesson plans • Look ahead to planned field trips and school events • Be aware of how many lessons you will cover in the 9 weeks • Plan an adequate amount of recordable assessments • Review the report cards and know what is on them

  7. Important Dates • September: 7 Labor Day, 14-21 (3rd and 5th) ITBS • October: 21st- Early Release, 22nd-5th grade Honor Chorus • November: 3rd- Work Day, 21-29th Thanksgiving Holidays • January: 25-29th Conference Week, 27-28th GMEA • February: 15th Teacher Workday, 18-19th LGPE • March: 3rd (5th) grade writing ass.,10th Early Release 29th (3rd) writing ass. • April: 3-11th Spring Break, 14-23rd CRCT

  8. Assess Smart • Don’t make more work then is needed • Monitor whole classes and note the kids who are struggling • Make a recording method that is easy for you to understand • Keep it consistent

  9. Talking To Parents • Make yourself familiar with the language used in the parent rubrics • Be able to support your grades with recordable assessment notes • Communicate the difference between Cumulative and Culminating • Be sure that they are aware of the rubric and what is being reported • Clearly explain the differences in what is report each nine weeks

  10. Parents Should NOT be Surprised

Share with your Neighbor • One thing you do that works well for you that may be helpful • Something you are struggling with in planning and organization and ask for tips • Your current reporting methods (planning sheets, lesson plans, grade reporting, parent communication) • Anything you may have found helpful from this presentation
