  3. Bats are the only mammal that can fly. They look like a brown bird. They weigh 1 ½ ounces to 3 ½ pounds and are 2 to 5 inches long.

  4. They live by lakes and streams in the summer and hibernate in caves, mines and buildings in the winter. They live all over Ohio.

  5. They eat insects and their predators are skunks, snakes, opossums, hawks, minks, raccoons and even fish and bullfrogs! They can live up to 30 years.

  6. Babies are called pups or kits and are born alive. Bats bite and fly away to protect themselves. They are nocturnal and use echolocation to fly in the dark.

  7. We like Little Brown Bats because they are the only flying mammals, they have sharp teeth, fly fast and eat bugs.
